Can You Get a “PhD ABD Degree”? The short answer is no, there is no such thing as a “PhD ABD degree.” Rather, the term “PhD ABD” is used to refer to a place in one’s journey towards getting a PhD. Similarly, the term “ABD Degree” makes claim to a degree that was never completed.
