Is Eco complete Aquasoil?
Size. ADA Aquasoil has a mostly uniform size, think of soil rolled into a ball slightly lager than styrofoam balls. Eco Complete is non-uniform in shape and the size will be vary, from the size of large sand to small gravel. They will both hold all aquatic plants as well as the other.
Does Eco complete leach ammonia?
It is known to leach small amounts of ammonia into the tank for a while afterwards.
Does CaribSea eco complete break down?
The reason it does not break down is because it transfers nutrients, it has a high CEC (cation exchange capacity) which means that it takes nutrients from the water and absorbs it, then slowly releases it to feed plant roots.

A good combination is Eco-Complete on top with Fluval Stratum on the bottom. The Eco-Complete is heavy enough to help hold rooting plants, while the Stratum nourishes them. You can also do a mix of Eco-Complete, Stratum, gravel and sand to create mountains/hills/slopes in your aquascape.
Does Eco complete cause ammonia spike?
it does not cause any ammonia but it does increase the ph a little, just for a couple of weeks before turning neutral.
Does Eco Complete have beneficial bacteria?
Compared to average substrates on the market, Eco-Complete has 4 times as much surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow on it. Just because it has 4 times as much housing for beneficial bacteria, that doesn’t mean you should only use ¼ the amount of substrate you would usually use.
