Is the Houston Zoo Lights worth it?
If you get a chance to visit Zoo Lights you won’t be disappointed. Amazing lights and Christmas music throughout. Fun and safe place to bring the family to enjoy the lights and time with each other during the holidays. You will be able to see a few animals but not many since they are up for the night.
How long does Houston Zoo Lights last?
Zoo Lights is a separately-ticketed event, held daily from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. with the last entry at 9:30 p.m. The zoo closes for the day at 4 p.m. and re-opens as Zoo Lights at 5:30 p.m. Tickets prices range from $12.75 – $29.95. For the best price, guests are encouraged to buy early.
Do you have to wear a mask at the Houston Zoo?
Are masks required to visit the Zoo? Per CDC guidelines, masks are strongly encouraged for all guests inside Zoo buildings. The Zoo continues to strongly encourage everyone to exercise safe social distancing in crowded situations, regardless of their vaccination status.

How long does it take to go through Houston Zoo?
One hour is enough there. (I’d agree with Kingwood’s time assessments on NASA and Houston Zoo, by the way, but be prepared for heat at zoo if you’re coming during summer months–I’d try to schedule this visit starting when they open before it gets too hot.)

You are welcome to bring your own food items if you like. Please refrain from bringing any glass, disposable straws, or alcoholic beverages.
Is parking free at the Houston Zoo?
The Houston Zoo does not have its own parking lot; free parking is available in Hermann Park. On busy days, these lots can fill quickly. Guests can park in Lots G, F, E, H and I as indicated on the Hermann Park Parking Map. An additional parking option is the Centennial Gardens, Lot C on the Hermann Park Parking Map.
