What are livial tablets used for?
This medicine is used in postmenopausal women with at least 12 months (1 year) since their last natural period. During the menopause, the amount of the oestrogen produced by a woman’s body drops. This can cause symptoms such as hot face, neck and chest (“hot flushes”). Livial alleviates these symptoms after menopause.
Does livial cause weight gain?
Overall tibolone was well tolerated and climacteric symptoms were relieved within 3-5 weeks. The major side effect was weight gain and/or a tendency to bloating and oedema which occurred in 11.28% of our women.
How long can you stay on livial?
Review the need for continuation of treatment after 6 months, taking into account the risk-benefit ratio for the individual user at the moment (including cardiovascular disease and breast cancer, refer Clinical Trials and Precautions). Livial should only be continued for as long as the benefit outweighs the risks.
How quickly does livial work?
It usually takes a few weeks before you will feel the initial benefits of HRT and up to three months to feel the full effects. It may also take your body time to get used to HRT. When treatment begins you may experience side effects such as breast tenderness, nausea and leg cramps.
When should I take livial?
When to start it Livial should not be taken until 12 months after your last natural menstrual bleed. If Livial is taken sooner than this, the chance of irregular vaginal bleeding may be increased. Women who have undergone premature menopause (surgical removal of ovaries) can start taking Livial immediately.

Take one 2.5 mg tablet every day. You may take tibolone at whatever time of day you find easiest to remember, but try to take your doses at the same time of day, each day. You can take the tablets before or after meals. You may find it helps to swallow the tablet with a drink of water.

Its estrogenic potency is about 1/50 of that of ethinyl-estradiol, its progestogenic potency is 1/8 that of norethisterone acetate (NETA) and the androgenic potency is about 1/3 that of norethisterone (7).
