What does SFE mean on fuses?

SFE Fuses. Glass fuses designed to specifications set by the Society of Fuse. Engineers.

What’s the difference between AGC and SFE?

An AGC-20 is the same length, & pretty much interchanges with an SFE-20. Both types are “fast acting”, but according to my Buss charts, the SFE is a little faster. An AGC-20 is rated to carry 27 amps for up to 60 minutes, while an SFE-20 will blow in under 2 minutes.

What is an SFE 9 fuse?

Datasheet. Low-voltage fuse for automotive and electronic applications.

What do fuse numbers mean?

Car fuses are color coded by amp rating. For example, a standard blue fuse has a 15-amp rating, yellow is 20 amps and green is 30. You can buy them at any auto parts store and at well-stocked service stations. Note: If your new fuse blows soon after installing it, you could have problems in that circuit.

Will a 250V fuse work for 125V?

For example, a 125V fuse can be replaced with a 250V fuse of equal amplitude while the voltage of the application is 250V or lower, but a a 250V fuse can’t be replaced with a 125V fuse of equal amplitude if the voltage of the application exceeds 125V.

Are SFE and AGC fuses interchangeable?

By the way the 20-ampere fuse in SFE or AGC is the same size so they are interchangeable.

What are AGC fuses used for?

AGC fuses provide fast acting overcurrent protection for electrical circuits.

What size is an AGC fuse?

3AG size, type AGC, 0.125 A to 50 A, 1/4 inch diameter (6.3mm) by 1 1⁄4 inch (31.8mm) long. 4AG size, type AGS, 9⁄32 inch (7.1mm) diameter by 1 1⁄4 inch (31.8mm) long. 5AG size, type AGU, 1 A to 60 A, 13⁄32 inch (10.3mm) diameter by 1 1⁄2 inch (38.1mm) long.

How do you read fuse numbers?

The first letter(s) (TT, T, M, F, FF) tell you what type of fuse it is:

  1. FF = Fast Fast. Very Quick Acting. ( also known as Anti Surge)
  2. F = Fast. Quick Acting. ( also known as Anti Surge)
  3. M = Medium. “Normal” or Very Short Delay.
  4. T = Time. Time Delay or Slow Blow.
  5. TT = Time Time. Long Time Delay or Very Slow Blow.

How do you read a fuse code?

etc. As these fuses are larger in size, there is usually a lot more information printed on the fuse body. This information that is likely to be found on the fuse is summarised in the following table….Fuse Markings.

MarkingFuse Element Speed
MMedium Acting (Mitteltrage)
TSlow Acting (Trage)
TTVery Slow Acting (Trage Trage)

What is the fuse rating?

The maximum value of safe current allowed to flow through a fuse wire before it melts is called fuse rating. If a fuse of higher rating is used, it will not blow and protection of the circuit will be achieved. If a fuse of lower rating is used, it will blow before the circuit is fully loaded.
