What do you cover Santyl with?
Cover. Wounds with sufficient wound fluid will have enough moisture for product to be effective, but a dry wound may require additional moisture. Add moisture, as with a saline moistened gauze, compatible wound gel, and/or appropriate cleansers.
Can wound cleanser be used with Santyl?
What wound cleansing materials are compatible with SANTYL® Ointment? Sterile saline is compatible for use with SANTYL® Ointment. If using a wound cleanser, follow it with saline before applying SANTYL® Ointment.
When should you not use Santyl?
Collagenase Santyl Ointment is contraindicated in patients who have shown local or systemic hypersensitivity to collagenase. The optimal pH range of collagenase is 6 to 8. Higher or lower pH conditions will decrease the enzyme’s activity and appropriate precautions should be taken.
How does Hydrofera blue work?

It is hypothesized that MEDIHONEY® Gel with Active leptospermum honey will result in significantly faster wound healing (i.e., fewer days) when compared to SANTYL®.
How long does it take Santyl to work?
Santyl is an active debridement agent which will not harm granulation tissue. If debridement of wound bed slough/eschar is minimal after 2 week of treatment, contact the Wound Clinician, NP or Physician for reassess of the wound. Debridement of the wound may take 2-6 weeks.
Can you use Xeroform with Santyl?
Santyl Collagenase– An enzymatic debriding agent used for deep partial thickness burns, small full-thickness burns or wounds with a fibrinous exudate. Must be applied nickel thick and covered with a secondary dressing, such as xeroform, to keep moist.
How often do you change Hydrofera blue?
Change the dressing every 3 days and as required: If the dressing retained its blue color where it had been in contact with the wound, the new dressing can be left in place for up to 3 days. If the dressing turned white or lightened in color, continue daily dressing changes until blue color is retained.
