What is a Freedom Pass London?
The Freedom Pass is a travelcard for qualifying Londoners that offers free access to public transport across the Transport for London network. This includes London Underground, Overground, buses and trams, as well as some TfL Rail and National Rail services.
Is the Freedom Pass being discontinued?
Approximately 650 current Freedom Pass holders per borough, a total of 21,000 (1.6 per cent of the total across London) have not responded. These Freedom Passes will be stopped from 3 February.
What are the restrictions on the Freedom Pass?
The rose symbol on your Freedom Pass means you can travel free on local buses all over England. Use your Freedom Pass between 9:30 and 23:00 on weekdays and anytime on weekends and public holidays.
Can you get a Freedom Pass if you don’t live in London?
Residency. Your London home needs to be your ‘sole’ or ‘principal’ residence, which means you live there most of the time. If you work or study in London but do not live in London you are not eligible for a Freedom Pass. If you move out of London you are no longer eligible for a Freedom Pass.
What is the difference between 60+ Oyster and Freedom Pass?
New 60+ London Oyster photocard will give free travel on all TfL services from 1 November. However, unlike the Freedom Pass, 60+ Oystercard holders will not be able to use their card to travel free of charge on local bus services in other parts of the country.
Can I use my Freedom Pass to travel to Brighton?
Although you can go around in Brighton tapping on and off with your Freedom Pass, unfortunately, you cannot use it to travel from London to Brighton neither by train nor by a coach of the National Express.
Can I use my bus pass before 9.30 am in London?
National Concessionary passes issued by English local authorities outside London are valid at any time on any Transport for London bus service. Services not run by London Buses will usually let you travel free between 09:30 and 23:00 on weekdays and at any time on weekends and public holidays.
Can I use my Freedom Pass during lockdown?
Free travel for Older Person’s Freedom Pass and 60+ customers will be temporarily suspended during morning peak hours, 0430 to 0900, Monday to Friday. Older Person’s Freedom Pass and 60+ card will continue to be valid at all other times on weekdays and all day on weekends and Bank Holidays.
What is the difference between a 60+ Oyster card and a Freedom Pass?
Can I use my bus pass anywhere in the UK?
Your bus pass is valid for use on all registered Bus services within England, so if you are visiting other places you should be able to use your pass. It is not valid in Wales* or Scotland.
Can I use my Freedom Pass to Gatwick?
Free Standard Class travel is available for all freedom pass holders on local rail services after 9.30am. Passes are not valid on Gatwick Express, Heathrow Express or any long distance inter-city train that does not stop at intermediate stations within the freedom pass area.
Can I use my Freedom Pass to Luton?
No. In London, the Freedom Pass is an Oyster smartcard that uses a different technology to the one elsewhere in England, so you will need to show your pass. The government is working on a national standard.
