Emus have a powerful voice. They can also grunt and whistle. The sound can be loud, but is so low frequency it is hard to record. In some areas you can hear an Emu from two kilometres away. We often hear emus in the distance at Mungo.

What Emus eat for kids?

An average refrigerator is 5.8 feet (70 inches) tall. Emus also eat leaves, fruit, insects, and small reptiles. Emus can also be found in grassy plains.

Emus eat the parts of plants that have the most concentrated nutrients: seeds, fruits, flowers and young shoots. They also eat insects and small vertebrates when they are easily available.

Emus usually pair up in summer and autumn, and mate in winter. Pairs remain together for about five months. Their nest is a scraped area on the ground lined with grass or leaves. The female lays between five and fifteen eggs.
