Why do you port a Glock barrel?
Having the barrel ported has a wonderful application for those shooters seeking faster follow-up shots on target. The ports on the barrel are for reducing recoil by allowing the expanding gases to sort of thrust the end of the pistol downward. Great for competition shooters!
Are Glock 26 and 19 barrels interchangeable?
You certainly can put a G19 barrel in your G26. It’s completely compatible, gives you the extra 50-75 f/s velocity, and has no drawbacks. There is no need to put an entire G19 slide on the G26 (and I agree it looks pretty bad and may not even work reliably). Just drop in the barrel.
